BSP to Participate in Earth Day 2020

Wednesday, April 22, 2020

Bank South Pacific (BSP) is commemorating Earth Day as part of its Go Green Initiative on 22nd April, 2020.

The bank recognises Earth Day each year as part of its GO GREEN initiative by supporting and leading the way in communities and cities in ways to support and enhance the environment we live in.

Recently, the bank has supported the International Day of Forests School Poster Competition with prizes and also took part in the Earth Hour by flicking off its lights at the BSP Waigani Head Office (WHO) for an hour on 28th March, 2020, to commemorate the Earth Hour.

BSP Corporate Sponsorship Manager Amelia Minnopu when highlighting the events said," as part of our Corporate and Social Responsibility, BSP is pleased to support the events as it integrates with our Go Green initiative of environmental sustainability."

The theme for Earth Day 2020 is 'Climate Action.' Climate action calls for all citizens to tackle the current challenges that our planet is facing such as global warming and deforestation.

We believe that environmental challenges cannot be resolved in a short period of time however, simple planting of trees in our communities improve our quality of air and gives off oxygen that we need to breathe and make the environment more sustainable for the future.

Our participation is more than just about planting trees. The idea of Earth Day is to show how the little things we do can help make a difference in the world.
