BSP Stitched in K20, 000 for Fashion Week

Wednesday, June 2, 2021

BSP Financial Group Limited (BSP) sew in K20, 000 to PNG Fashion Week Limited to support the 2021 PNG Fashion week event in Port Moresby.

The PNG Fashion Week has succeeded over the years in repositioning fashion as a useful tool to drive commerce and creativity in the country.

BSP Corporate Sponsorship Manager Amelia Minnopu presented the cheque saying, “BSP is thrilled at supporting an initiative that aims at ensuring the growth of SMEs in the country. Fashion industry has abundant talent and opportunities that is enough to support the local economy.”

“We recognise that there are various aspects of SME, and fashion business is an important part of it.  Fashion is an evolving industry in PNG and we believe our support will go a long way in encouraging our local fashion designers in show casing their creativity and talent which could for some have the potential to compete with world-renowned fashion designers,” said Minnopu.

“Through this sponsorship, the bank will also provide support in the form of Financial Literacy Training, Account Opening and awareness sessions on BSP’s SME Products and services for Port Moresby Fashion Week Designers and Models. This should assist and encourage individuals and business owners to grow their businesses in this industry,” Minnopu added.

PNG Fashion week Limited Managing Director Philma Kelegai when receiving the cheque said, "As the premier fashion platform in the country, it is a privilege to partner with the leading financial institution in the Pacific. Fashion is a transformative industry and the ability to have access to important banking and finance assistance can make the difference between that transformation from being a short lived to having longevity.”

“BSP offers a wealth of experience and a history of success. We are excited for this partnership and look forward to endless possibilities,” added Ms Kelegai

The annual multiday fashion event scheduled for 17th to 26th June, 2021, serves as an avenue where fashion professionals, buyers, consumers, enthusiasts and media operators come together to appreciate the current collections from PNG designers in the fashion industry.

BSP continues to support the growth of SMEs as part of our contribution to the growth of the economy.
