BSP Cash Agent for Gaire Village

Thursday, May 26, 2022

Gaire village now has a BSP Cash Agent.  BSP customers in Gaire can now save K12 from the round trip to Port Moresby to perform basic banking transactions.

Last Friday 20th May, 2022, the BSP Boroko Branch team commissioned GTL Trading as a BSP Cash Agent at Gaire village, Central Province.  The village has an estimated population of 10,000, and serves as a hub for small businesses, schools and government employees.

GTL Trading will provide Withdrawal, Deposit and Funds Transfer services to Kunducard holders as a BSP Cash Agent.  Customers no longer have to travel 50 minutes into Port Moresby to access these services.  The commissioning of GTL Trading brings to 23, the number of BSP Cash Agents operating in NCD and the Central Province.  There are 159 Cash Agents operating around the country.

In witnessing the commissioning, Gaire Village Court Magistrate Lobe Geno commended BSP for bringing the banking service to their doorstep. “I am happy because my people will no longer travel to town to go to the main BSP branch to do their personal banking. They can do it all here in Gaire. This is the first time we receive such service in our community, “Mr Geno added.

It was double celebration for GTL Trading owner Tau Diari, as BSP Boroko Branch Manager Madeleine Leka presented two new vehicles for his small business, purchased with the assistance of a BSP SME Credit Enhancement Scheme Loan.

“We are proud and honoured to be one of the first BSP Cash Agents in our community and along the Magi Highway.” He said the BSP loan has boosted the family business, allowing it to expand from a small trade store, to a mini-supermarket.

“The Bank has also assisted us through its SME program to venture into the PMV business. I encourage other small businesses to take advantage of BSP’s SME Loan products,” he added.

BSP Banking Agency Manager, Stanley Seimoni said, the BSP Cash Agent is one of the branchless banking channels the Bank uses to deliver its services closer to its customers. “We have a growing and vibrant ecosystem of 159 BSP Cash Agents throughout PNG who are providing banking services in their communities,” Mr Seimoni added.

A BSP Cash Agent uses a wireless branchless banking device to facilitate seamless Kunducard transactions in real time. BSP is the first to use innovative branchless banking technology to deliver its services to some of the most remote areas of PNG.
