Ian B ClyneGroup Chief Executive Officer

Ian B. Clyne 

Ian B Clyne was appointed as Chief Executive Officer by the Board of the Bank South Pacific Limited on 17 October 2008. He has had distinguished career in banking and finance; his most recent appointment was Executive Vice President and Managing Director, ING Bank Slaski Group, Poland.

During his career Ian, a Bachelor of Business graduate from the Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia has held a senior appointment in Australia, PNG, Pakistan, Hong Kong, China, France, UK, Singapore, Indonesia, Italy, and Poland, during a career with the Indosuez Bank, ING Barings and Lippo Bank. Prior to embarking on an international banking career, Mr Clyne worked in Papua New Guinea with Nambawan Finance Limited and Indoniu Finance during 1980 - 1986.

He is a highly experienced emerging market banker & has been the President Director / Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of universal banking operations with extensive branch networks & large employee bases

Ian has successfully re-engineered Banks in Indonesia, Italy, Poland & Papua New Guinea. When Ian joined BSP, he has been instrumental and the driving force behind BSP's rebranding and transformation. Under his leadership and guidance BSP has undertaken a major transformation program over the last 3 years changing from a typical 3rd world banking institution, into an innovative technology driven modern banking institution.

Today BSP has a unique business model that combines modern international best practice banking services, with a high level of social & community commitment.

 


Group Chief Financial Officer/Deputy CEO Johnson Kalo

Johnson Kalo

Johnson Kalo was appointed as Chief Financial Officer by the Board of the Bank South Pacific Limited in September 2005. Immediately prior to this appointment, he was senior manager of Planning and Control for BSP.  Prior to joining BSP, Mr Kalo's previous professional experience includes roles as assistant audit manager with KPMG Port Moresby, and Senior Accounting Manager at Papua New Guinea Banking Corporation.  Mr Kalo is a Commerce graduate from the University of Papua New Guinea, and has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment with the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.  Mr Kalo is an associate member of CPA PNG.

 


Robin FlemingGroup Chief Risk Officer/Deputy CEO

Robin Fleming

Robin Fleming was appointed Deputy CEO and Chief Risk Officer of Bank of South Pacific Limited in 2009. He had previously held senior executive roles as Chief Risk Officer, General Manager Corporate & International, and Head of Risk Management with BSP. Prior to the merger of Bank of South Pacific Limited and PNGBC Limited Robin held senior management roles with PNGBC. He has worked in PNG for over 30 years and holds a MBA and a Master Of Management from Charles Sturt University.


Roberto LoggaiGroup Chief Operating Officer

Roberto Loggia

Roberto Loggia joined BSP in April 2011 after having been CEO of State Bank, Mongolia in its initial stages of development wherein the sound assets of two failed institutions were consolidated into a new viable state sponsored bank with the support of EBRD, London. After having obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from McGill University, Montreal and initiation into banking at Toronto Dominion Bank, he eventually became a career banker with more than thirty years' experience working mostly throughout Asia but also in emerging markets in Central Europe, South America and Africa.  In terms of scope of responsibility, most of his assignments have been as Chief Operating Officer responsible for middle and back office functions supporting businesses in Retail Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking and Private Banking.  He has also participated as a key manager in greenfield banks in Japan, Indonesia, Laos and Angola. Lastly, he has held senior line management responsibility within Retail Banking in Nigeria as well as consulting assignments within Retail Banking in China and Risk Management in Thailand.

 


Frans KootteGeneral Manager Retail Banking

Frans Kootte

Frans has over 25 years Finance Management experience and has worked internationally with ING Group and various private and government owned banks in countries around the globe including Poland, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Russia, Macedonia and several institutions in Africa. He has held senior management positions focusing on retail banking, new product development, credit scoring modeling, channel strategy development and microfinance.  His specialties Mass Market, Personal Banking and Rural banking, Project Management, Product Management, Risk Management and working experience in Emerging Markets.

 


Peter BeswickGeneral Manager Corporate Banking

Peter Beswick

Peter was appointed General Manager of BSP Corporate Banking in June 2011.  He has over 20 years Banking and Finance experience, covering Australia and South East Asia with Commonwealth Bank of Australia, National Australia Bank and Bank of New Zealand; holding senior executive positions in Risk Management and Business Development.  Peter's most recent appointment has been CEO of a national wholesale, import and retail business in Australia.  Peter has extensive experience in the finance, Government, retail, wholesale, telecommunications, and property sectors, with extensive knowledge in foreign exchange, risk management and governance. Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PWC and most recently completed an MBA with Macquarie University in Australia.

 


Aho BalikiGeneral Manager Paramount Banking

Aho Baliki

 

Mr Baliki is a career Banker having joined the Commonwealth Banking Corporation on 11th February 1974. Since joining the bank, he has progressed through the banking hierarchy to the position of Chief Executive officer of the PNG Banking Corporation in 1999. He was further appointed as General Manager Human Resources in 2000 when PNG Banking Corporation merged with Bank South Pacific.

He currently holds the position of General Manager Paramount Banking since his appointment in 2002.


Ian MasonGeneral Manager BSP Capital

Ian Mason

Ian has been with BSP Capital since early 2009. He comes to BSP with well over 40 years of solid experience in the Banking and Finance and Insurance sectors, and has had over 20 years of experience in doing business in PNG. He has held very senior positions in Australia and in PNG, having headed up one of PNG's largest financial institutions between 1987 and 1991. Ian was involved in the formative years in the establishment of the Port Moresby Stock Exchange in the 1990's, and is currently a Director of POMSoX. Before joining BSP Capital, Ian was a Director of an Australian Insurance Broking company, and played key consulting roles in the Underwriting and Reinsurance fields, specialising in the Asian and Pacific insurance markets.

 


Mark RailstonGeneral Manager Treasury

Mark Railston

Mark was appointed General Manager of BSP Treasury in October 2011. He has over 20 years of experience in dealing and managing bank treasury asset and liability management, financial markets risk management using cash and discount instruments, bonds, futures, options, foreign exchange and swaps and structured transactions. He has worked in Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and the United Kingdom with Westpac, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Halifax Bank of Scotland. Mark's most recent appointment was Treasurer for Savings & Loans, Australia's second largest credit union. 

 


Giau DurubaGeneral Manager Human Resources

Giau Duruba

Giau Duruba was appointed as General Manager Human Resources by the Board of BSP Ltd 1 October 2004.  Prior to joining BSP he was employed with South Pacific Brewery Limited for 27 years and his most recent appointment was Human Resources/Corporate Affairs Manager. During his career Mr. Duruba, a Bachelor of Economics graduate from the University of Papua New Guinea, attended numerous Regional Human Resource Managers Conference in Singapore, Malaysia and Holland, and a number of Heenekar Executive Development Programs in Holland and France.Mr. Duruba has been involved in Human Resources Management in Papua New Guinea at a senior management level for over 20 years.

 


Mary JohnsCompany Secretary

Mary Johns

Mary Johns graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Papua New Guinea in 1994 and was received a Certificate of Training from the PNG Legal Training Institute to be admitted to practice law in 1995. After 7 years in the legal private practice, Mary Johns joined the Legal Services of Bank of South Pacific Limited in July 2002. She was appointed as Company Secretary to the Board of Directors in 2005.
