BSP Financial Group Limited (BSP) has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Papua New Guinea’s rich cultural heritage with a K50, 000 sponsorship towards the Goroka Show.
The Goroka Show, now in its 69th year, holds the distinction of being PNG’s oldest and longest-running cultural show, attracting thousands of local and international visitors each year. Over 80 to 90 singsing groups from across the country are expected to take part in this year’s event, which coincides with PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary week— making the celebration even more significant.
BSP has been a proud partner of the Goroka Show for over a decade, supporting the Show Committee’s continued efforts to showcase cultural diversity, promote unity, and engage the next generation through school participation.
BSP Goroka Branch Manager, Rosemary Mawe said the sponsorship reflects BSP’s broader commitment to community and cultural preservation.
“As PNG celebrates 50 years of nationhood, BSP is honoured to stand with our people in recognising the unique cultures that define our identity. The Goroka Show is a national treasure, and we’re proud to support its success once again,” she said.
As a Silver Sponsor, BSP will also bring a range of financial inclusion services to the event, including: Account Opening, Mobile & Personal Internet Banking registrations, Wantok Wallet product support, BSP Life Insurance awareness and Cash Agents on-site.
“We are not just sponsors — we’re here to serve. These onsite services are part of our ongoing drive to make banking more accessible, especially in our rural and regional communities,” Ms Mawe added.
Goroka Show Chairlady Keryn Hargreaves thanked BSP for its continued support to the oldest running cultural show in the country, scheduled for 19–21 September 2025.
“Goroka show is known across the world – from Israel to Poland, and in between. The show relies on sponsorships from corporates like BSP. We are very thankful for the support that’s been given to us over the years for this community event. The show gives back to the Eastern Highlands communities and this year we are giving prominence back to the country’s 50th Independence celebrations by hosting it the week after Independence,” Mrs Hargreaves said.
