About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Business Controller to be fully embedded as an integral part of a Leadership Team. In this critical role, you will leverage your deep business knowledge to provide financial management, governance advice, and facts-based decision support, proactively identifying internal and external opportunities. Success means actively contributing to the Leadership Team’s agenda to drive key strategic outcomes and collaboratively address complex strategic and financial challenges. This role is a genuine partnership where your financial expertise translates directly into business impact.
Key Deliverables:
- Co-pilot to the business unit leadership team through providing leadership and strategic advice on all issues, not just financial.
- Constructively analysing and challenging business unit decisions, ensuring that they not only work for the business unit, but also align with the enterprise objectives.
- A thought leader in delivery of BSP objectives, provide a catalyst for change. This includes working with Data & Analytics team to leverage the appropriate Finance resources to develop forward looking information to support forward thinking decision making.
- Influence senior stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for the BSP, even where stakeholder interests do not naturally align.
- Research and maintain a detailed understanding of external best practice and changes in legislation/policy and financial management approaches and methodologies, for Finance but also relevant to the business units you support.
- Lead and continually improve processes within the team (and across the business).
- Safeguard BSP through delivering training, personal behaviours and interactions to promote an environment where business units consistently get the basics right on financial management
What You Bring:
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelors (or higher) Degree or higher in Business, Accounting, or Economics from a recognised tertiary institution
- Professional certification with CPA PNG or equivalent international certification
- At least 6 years management or financial accounting experience in the financial services industry or the profession, or 8 years senior accounting experience in another Industry
Technical Skills & Leadership
- Proven track record of developing solid relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to proactively take action to maximise financial performance and reduce costs.
- Demonstrated ability to build key relationships and act as a broker with regard to financial decision making on behalf of the BU supported.
- Sound understanding of the Group’s financial management policies and methodologies.
