Risk & Compliance Officer

Position Details

About the Role

Based in Port Moresby and reporting to the Manager Risk & Compliance, this role will responsible for ensuring that the Business Unit is complying with regulatory compliance, internal policies and framework to monitor, identify, review and assess risks. Furthermore, to conduct regular compliance checks per respective timelines to ensure effectiveness. Also, responsible to conduct investigations and report to relevant stakeholders as and when necessary.

Key Deliverables

  • Ensure that all activities in your area adhere to Corporate Services BU internal procedures and relevant Bank policies to mitigate potential risks and losses.
  • Facilitate compliance checks for the Business Unit (BU) in alignment with approved procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements, and prepare compliance findings and reports.
  • Conduct End of Month Compliance checks for CDC and Bulk Cash following assigned checklists and related procedures.
  • Investigate any anomalies related to CDC non-compliance that may result in shortages, surpluses, or Non-Lending Loss (NLL).
  • Maintain records in your area according to Corporate Services BU internal and Company policies regarding filing and record retention, including filing and archiving procedures.
  • Ensure that aged values in the CDC till account are cleared and NLLs are compiled within the designated timeframes.
  • Collaborate extensively with other Banks to resolve related discrepancies (shortages/surpluses) within an acceptable timeframe.
  • Immediately report any observed anomalies or suspicious activities to your Line Manager.
  • If necessary, assist in investigating aged items in the respective ATM Cash and/or Error Accounts.
  • Attend to any additional tasks assigned by your direct Line Manager from time to time.

Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in Business or related fields
  • Proficient in Oral and Written English
  • Proficient in General/Desktop Microsoft Applications
  • Basic understanding of Policies & Procedures
  • Basic Industry Knowledge
  • Basic understanding of Safety & Security
  • Basic understanding of Compliance/Legislation
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience within Security Industry
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in Risk/Governance/Audit/Compliance environment
