Credit Assurance Officer

Position Details

About the Role:

Based in Port Moresby and reports to the Head of Credit Assurance. The successful incumbent will be responsible to provide assistance in the development, monitoring and delivery of a risk based Credit Assurance (CA) plan of reviews within all areas of Lending and Credit Risk.

 

Key Deliverables

  • Achieve the CA plan for the year/ half year (allowing for additional ad hoc review requests, and follow up reviews including assisting with closing out action items in a timely manner).
  • Scope and undertake Credit Assurance Reviews as per the CA Plan. Complete File Assessments timely and accurately (e.g. File Assessment Worksheets)
  • Material and systemic issues are to be documented in a clear and concise manner for presenting to the business.
  • CA portfolio reports are to be completed promptly following the completion of fieldwork with minimal errors, and minimal need for rework.
  • CA Methodology is to be strictly adhered to. Any areas of process improvement within CA are to be discussed and developed with the Manager and Head of Credit Assurance.
  • The CA Plan is to be continually maintained up to date as to progress with completion of reviews.
  • Outstanding issues and compliance certificates are to be recorded and followed up.
  • Identify areas of improvement with Business related Policies and process and progress implementation.
  • Conduct all activities in a professional manner, in line with BSP Bank core values and in line with CA Methodology.
  • Identifying and provide value adding advise to the business Coach business staff on the risk areas identified during fieldwork on completion of the fieldwork.
  • Work cohesively as a Team to ensure consistent findings and all targets are achieved.
  • Assist to maintain all costs within Budget

 

What You Bring:

Qualification & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in Accounting, Economics, Legal or Finance.
  • Minimum 3 years past experience in credit officer or credit management in Corporate or Commercial Banking.
  • Has detailed understanding of BSP’s credit policies and procedures including all of BSP’s core lending systems.
  • Proficient in English communication both Oral & Written Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Thorough understanding in both operational and credit risk.
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions analyzing the root cause of a problem to identify the best possible solutions.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
  • Strong credit inspection analysis skills.
