About the Role
BSP Financial Group Limited (BSP) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Officer to support the effective integration and management of regulatory obligations across our operations in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.
This is a second-line role within the Group Compliance team, responsible for assisting in the implementation, and ongoing development of a robust compliance framework. The position plays a vital part in ensuring regulatory alignment, and safeguarding BSP’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Obligation Identification: Monitor and interpret changes in laws, regulations, and prudential standards across PNG and BSP’s operating jurisdictions and document relevant obligations impacting BSP operations.
- Integration & Register Management: Support the compilation and maintenance of PNG Compliance Obligations Registers. Assist in overseeing the administration of country-specific registers for BSP’s operating jurisdictions and subsidiaries, ensuring alignment with Group compliance strategies.
- Policy & Contractual Oversight: Collaborate with teams to identify material obligations embedded in policies and contracts. Escalate critical issues to the Head of Regulatory & Policy Compliance for resolution and strategic input.
- Regulatory Advisory: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of key regulatory frameworks – including Anti-Bribery, AML/CTF, and sanctions regimes-to provide informed guidance to executive management and; support the development of compliant procedures and controls
- Compliance Risk Assessment: Contribute to the design and execution of compliance risk assessments. Ensure risks are accurately identified, documented, and addressed through appropriate mitigation strategies and procedural updates.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, and admission to practice in PNG (current practicing certificate required).
- Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification experience in compliance, governance, or risk within financial services.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and policy drafting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a keen understanding of regulatory frameworks.
- Desirable: AML/Risk Management qualifications and commercial acumen.
