Legal Officer - Litigation

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Together with other legal officers in the Legal unit, to provide the legal services required by the Bank in undertaking its operations;
• Provide commercial and practical legal services on a timely basis which are accurate;
• Undertake all tasks assigned in a professional manner and with honesty and integrity and ensure the interests of BSP are adequately protected and safeguarded;
• Ensure all files and records of the Legal Officer are property maintained in a manner expected of a legal practice, including the Legal Services Data Base;
• Maintain professional standards including keeping up to date with the law and developments;
• Manage business partnerships and  interconnected business activities;
• Provide required reports which are accurate;
• Maintain a practising certificate;
• To ensure all information is kept confidential.

Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:

• Degree or other Tertiary Degree in Law
• Admission as a Legal Practitioner to the National and Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea.
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years litigation experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient in verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the law and its application.
• Ability to determine and analyse factual issues and apply the law.
• Ability to draft documents.
• Ability to articulate and express views
• Computer Literate.
