BSP Donates K50, 000 to Sir Theo Foundation

Bank South Pacific (BSP) made a generous donation of K50, 000 to support the Sir Theo Foundations on Monday 29th June, 2020.


Sir Theo Foundation is a charitable program founded in 2014 by late Sir Theophilus Constantinou on an intent to support health of the people of PNG, with a particular focus on Port Moresby General (POMGen) Hospital.

BSP as a nationally owned bank has signed on a two-year partnership as Diamond Sponsor of the Program for 2020 and 2021 in sponsoring the program with K50, 000 annually.

Finance Director of Sir Theo Foundation, Bruce Mead applauded the support saying, "The combined mission of the support is crucial as it enhances the capability livelihood of the communities."

"The foundation has raised over K6 million since its inception in 2014 and had immensely supported the POMGen Hospital in a number of ways. The recent support was the purchasing of equipment for the benefit of nursing staff, funding of salaries for senior hospital staff and the provision of finance for infrastructure projects ranging from internal road repairs to the Cath lab that was opened in 2019, i and the construction of a renal dialysis unit," said Mr Mead.

Mead added that,' The Foundation directors are thankful to BSP for the commitment and looking forward to working through critical project options to best utilise funds received".

BSP Corporate Sponsorship Manager, Amelia Minnopu acknowledged the work of the foundation saying, "The bank is pleased to contribute to efforts of achieving and providing enhanced health services to the community."

"The bank is also involved in supporting the health sector in the country annually through its community projects, sponsorship and donations to the PNG Cancer Foundation, Operation Open Heart program, PNG Kidney Foundation Inc. and also the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Program through Burnett Institute," added Ms Minnopu.

The Sir Theo Foundation is, however, presently looking at areas of critical need in POMGEN with a view to securing tangible grass roots and long-term health benefits for those people of PNG most in need of public health services. And with this great support from BSP, we are committed in providing for the health of our community.
