BSP Branches Delivers Hand Wash Stations in Communities

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic spreads across the globe, millions of people, companies and Government Departments and Institutions are heeding the advice of health experts to Covid -19 measures.


Bank South Pacific (BSP), as a leading financial institution in the South Pacific is actively practicing these Covid -19 measures at workplace and in communities, ensuring customers and communities we operate in adhere to these safety practices. This is evident at all branches nationwide practicing social distancing in ques, wearing masks when entering the banks and sanitizing hands at entrances.

BSP commits to giving back to the community in many ways, one includes the annual community project initiatives that the bank delivers to communities through Health, Sports and Education.

For this year, 2020, an initiative in response to Covid-19 has seen BSP branches nationwide tasked to deliver three Hand Wash Stations to three different communities respectively. This is apart from the 2020 Themed project initiative, which is - "Equipping hospitals and Education - Digital Inclusion and refurbishment of specialised classrooms.

BSP Moro branch recently handed over their final Hand Wash Station project to Kaimari PNG Christian Fellowship Church and community after delivering Hand Washed Station to Moro Supermarket and BSP Moro Branch entrance.

"This project will be essential to the community to help better adapt to the Covid -19 pandemic measures and stem the spread of the virus," said BSP Moro Branch Manager Meck Kaum when handing over the completed project to the church and community.

"Handwashing is one measure adhere to as an effective way to prevent transmission of the disease, not only Coronavirus but diarrhea, cholera and typhoid. Therefore, BSP is pleased to have this Hand Wash Station installed for this community. In doing so, we align with the Government and Health regulations to practice clean hygiene and sanitation to avoid spread of viruses," said Mr Kaum.

The Covid -19 response project as supplementary projects to the 2020 initial project, will see 35 BSP Branches nationwide deliver close to 103 Hand Washed Station worth over K110, 000 to the communities.  Eleven out of the 35 branches successfully handed over three (3) of their Hand Wash Station projects to their selected communities. These BSP branches include Wabag, Tabubil, Popondetta, Mt Hagen, Moro, Mendi, Kundiawa, Kiunga, Bulolo, Alotau and Gordons Commercial Centre in NCD.

As a part of the communities we live in, we would like to build these relationships and strengthen our community involvement. BSP Community Projects initiative provided an avenue for each of our branch staff to contribute to make a difference in communities we live and operate in.
