BSP to Participate in Earth Hour 2020
Bank South Pacific (BSP) will turn off its lights at the Waigani Head office (WHO) building on Saturday 28th March for 60 minutes to mark the Earth Hour 2020.
Earth Hour is a global event organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) that invites individuals, households, businesses, landmarks and cities to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one whole hour.
As the leading financial institution, BSP through its "GO GREEN" campaign recognises the event as part of the ways to support and enhance the environment we live in.
The environment is everyone's responsibility, and with the annual Earth Hour's symbolic action to , "Switch Off", the bank is committed to supporting the event by flicking off its switches at the Waigani Head Office (WHO) from 8:30pm-9:30pm (local time) on Saturday 28th March, 2020.
The bank has taken the lead and made some positive contributions towards helping clean up our local communities and schools. These environmental challenges cannot be resolved in a short period of time; it takes persistence and teamwork to fight these challenges to ensure our communities and schools are healthy and sustainable for the future.
BSP continues to seek innovative new ways to decrease our environmental impact in the operation of our business by reduction of resources and materials used wherever possible. So as such, over the years we have committed to supporting a number of environmental days such as World Environment day, World Earth day and recently supporting the International Day of Forest and our most popular and well known the BSP Go Green Annual School Clean-up across PNG and the Pacific countries we operate in.
Our participation is more than just about 'flicking a switch', for one hour, once a year. The idea of Earth Hour is to show how the little things we do, can help make a difference in the world.
