BSP refurbishes Mendi Callan Centre

Thursday, December 7, 2017

Callan Early Interventions School in Kagua, Mendi, welcomed a refurbished double classroom and teachers' office on Thursday 7th December, 2017, thanks to Bank South Pacific (BSP).

BSP, through its annual community program, renovated two deteriorated classrooms and a teachers' office for the school. Complementing the improved learning environment was a newly installed water tank and electric water pump, two new ablution blocks and an upgraded mini playground.

BSP Mendi Branch Manager Billy Veveloga when handing over the project said, "this project was chosen as BSP believes in providing every opportunity for our children whether disabled or abled, to learn with the right facilities in place."

"The renovated buildings and facilities, we hope, will go a long way in assisting the staff of the school to provide their best for our special children ", he added.

Callan Services persons with disabilities coordinator Mathew Laga said, "A new look to the school will now fulfil its role in helping children living with disabilities reach their potential and live meaningful lives."

"The school was suspended for some time due to lack of maintenance and plumping system issues. We cannot thank BSP enough for this wonderful work that will give the school a fresh start," he said.

BSP has delivered 287 full funded community projects to various communities since 2009. In 2017, BSP has delivered 42 out of 48 community projects throughout the year by respective BSP Branch Teams with 6 more projects to be completed and handed over, all totalling to the tune of K1.2 million.
