Accountants’ Conference Receive Support from BSP

BSP continues to invest in the professional development of Papua New Guineans through its support of the Certified Practicing Accountants PNG (CPA PNG) Annual Conferences.

The bank maintained a Platinum sponsorship valued at K50,000, which will go toward the staging of a series of conferences in Kokopo, East New Britain Province; Lae, Morobe Province and Port Moresby in the Nation's Capital each with its own theme.

The first of the series of conferences will be held in Kokopo on 22nd June, 2018, with discussions on the theme "Empowering the Growth of the Micro (SME) Industry".

The next meeting will be in Lae from 16th - 17th August with the theme "How Innovation and Technology is Shaping the Accountants Future Role in Reporting and Compliance" and the third and final conference to be held in Port Moresby on the 01st - 02nd November themed "Catalysts for Economic Growth, Global Opportunities and Local Challenges".

BSP's Senior Facilities Management and Project Manager, Talitha Sengero presented the cheque to CPA PNG's President, Richard Kuna saying, "The Bank is pleased to continue this relationship which started in 1995, when BSP signed up to be gold sponsor. Our continued sponsorship reinforces our drive to support and build Papua New Guinean professionals, to take lead, build respect and recognition in the profession they choose".

"The knowledge, skill and diligence of professional and talented accountants, cannot be understated, because they monitor the performance of a business and ensure that transactions of the business are legitimate and accurate, and we are happy to support the leading accountancy professional body that encourages accountants to share knowledge and experience during these meetings," she added.

CPA PNG President, Mr Kuna thanked BSP for its continued support and the partnership in building professionals in PNG and said; "We can assure BSP that the sponsorship will go a long way in the true spirit of integral human capital development in PNG.
