BSP staff share Christmas cheer in Hospitals

Date: Tuesday December 6th, 2016

Sick babies, children and mothers at two different hospitals in Port Moresby were given early Christmas gifts and their mood lightened up by BSP staff and their family members.

On Sunday December 4th, the BSP team stocked with goodies and the Christmas cheer visited the Nursery & Mothers Ward at the Port Moresby General Hospital and then proceeded to visit sick children at Gerehu General Hospital.

Recipients at both locations were indeed very happy to see the BSP team.  At the Port Moresby General Hospital the gifts given included diapers, baby milk, paper towels and water purifier mixtures, toiletries and BSP merchandise, including balloons.

At Gerehu, the kiddies pack had hand sanitisers, a snack (drink and cookies) with BSP shirts, stress balls and sunnies and umbrellas.

Bank Corporate Sponsorship Manager Rosemary Mawe explained that the visit was supported by BSP, while staff volunteered their own time.

"The hospital visits are part of the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility and is usually the icing on the cake, topping off a year of many worthy sponsorship, donations and activities the bank undertakes throughout the year," Ms Mawe said.

BSP staff who volunteered to participate in the activity said the experience was "very fulfilling". "We get to share the Christmas spirit of love, joy, and peace and put a smile on those who don't get the opportunity to spend this Christmas with their families," said Tina Pomat, who organised the event.

BSP teams in Lae and Kokopo/Rabaul also visited Angau General Hospital, Paparatava  and  Warongoi Health Centre respectively.
