Themed "Don't dump it, Bin it and Do your Bit" the BSP Annual School Clean Up Day is Friday September 21st and Community Clean Up Day is Saturday September 22nd.
In 2011, over 250,000 people in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Fiji participated in clean up campaign. This year all three countries will stage clean ups on the same day.
Many schools, community groups, sporting organisations, NGOs, volunteer organisations along with businesses have already registered to participate and help clean up PNG.
Humanitarian organisation Red Cross PNG has commited to mobilise volunteers, youth ambassadors and communities.
The more people that jump on board and join us, the better says Miss James, BSP's Go Green Ambassador. Go Green is about everyone within our community mobilising and taking action and responsibility to help us solve this problem together.
Miss James says that, among others, plastic pollution is becoming a growing concern for everybody, especially in our urban town centres across the South Pacific.
"We live in the most precious, beautiful region of the world; both culturally diverse and blessed as the biodiversity hotspot of the planet. Our action today can go along way in the future to help safeguard and protect our precious environment and this valuable biodiversity - on both the land and in our seas," Miss James says.
She explains that each day a mass of plastic pollution goes into our environment and ultimately ends up in our oceans, polluting our precious seas and threatening our marine environment and flora and fauna.
"There is a lot we as individuals can do to help reduce the amount of plastic pollution that enters the environment. Recycling, reducing and reusing can assist. However first step is to teach everyone to be responsible, to dispose of rubbish responsibly," Miss James adds.
BSP understands that this problem needs long term commitment and dedication and BSP Go Green is paving the way with assisting to help shape our community and teach our younger generations the importance of helping to keep our environment clean and healthy.
