Living green expo promotes ways to Go Green

The newly launched Port Moresby Nature Park teamed up with BSP on Saturday (16/06/12) to host the "Living Green Expo" to promote ways to Go Green with the public in Port Moresby.

Organisations and companies who participated included WWF PNG, Greenpeace PNG, Institute of Biological Research, PNG Red Cross, Moore Printing, ESCO, Brian Bell, Beltek and PNG Women's Cutflower Association.

The participants had stalls to showcase products and talked about various ways to Go Green and live healthy and active lifestyles and what each of them were doing to make a difference.

ESCO PNG displayed and raffled a Solar Power Booth; Solar Power Home Kits, while Red Cross displayed environmental health and sanitation awareness information on Cholera to promote green healthy living. They also did a first aid and CPR demonstration.

BSP Go Green team had giveaways and fun activities for the children, jumping castle, face painting and coloring in. Port Moresby Nature Park animal handlers brought out a python for a live animal show to an amazed and excited audience.

Living Green Expo Caption 3Institute of Biological Research (IBR) representative Samoa Asigau said it was very important for like minded organisations and people to come together like this, to network, share ideas and exchange findings and collectively raise awareness on the importance of marine and environmental conservation and biological research initiatives across country.

BSP Go Green ambassador Rachel James reiterated what Ms Asigau said, adding that this is set to become an annual event to mark and celebrate World Environment Day. There was a similar event last year.
