BSP Go Green Ambassador Rachael James and a team of BSP Go Green ambassadors urged people to contribute to a cleaner, greener environment by doing simple things such as disposing rubbish thoughtfully.

The 2012 BSP Go Green calendar lists key environmental dates to be marked throughout the year.

Ms James said BSP is taking the lead because it sees an opportunity to start to change the way people care for their community.

"It is a way in which BSP can make a positive contribution by being part of a strategy to raise awareness to create a better, cleaner and healthier world," she said.

Ms James said the bank recognises that many environmental and health issues are a challenge that cannot be solved in just one day, as such, the BSP Go Green campaign is a long-term commitment that BSP has to the wider community.

"Every year we have a year round calendar of events that promote a clean, green and healthy environment," Ms James said.

At the launch, BSP staged a puppet show for children that had simple messages promoting awareness on Go Green. Colouring in activities, face painting and a jumping castle was also organised for the kids.

"Children are the future and must be educated to be responsible citizens, as failure to be vigilant in promoting awareness on the care and protection of the environment will result in future generations not enjoying and benefiting from the environment," Ms James stressed.

BSP staff members on hand also distributed flyers and posters promoting ways to Go Green to the general public.
