Mr Walters presented K15, 000 to the Institute of Internal Auditors PNG Chapter today (04/09/12). The 8th Annual Conference will be held in Port Moresby on September 20th - September 21st the Holiday Inn hotel in Port Moresby.

The theme for this year is "Internal Auditors" Approach to Corporate Governance". Mr Walters describes "Internal Audit as a very important profession as it adds value to corporate governance through transparency and accountability'.

"The bank has been supporting the conference since 2005 and we are proud to continue our support this year as we believe that audit plays an important role in any corporate organisation," Mr Walters said.

"BSP is happy to support a professional body that promotes the essence of auditing and looking at developing its standards to international standards of best practice," he adds.

Daisy Bautista, President of the Institute of Internal Auditors PNG Chapter, acknowledged BSP's support. She says "BSP's support throughout the years has enabled us to host the conferences and we are very grateful for the partnership."

The conference will challenge the Audit professionals to look globally at the challenges confronted and envision at how internal auditing can add value to corporate governance, transparency and accountability by changing and shaping an organisation.

The conference will feature presentations from various overseas and local speakers covering a range of topics including internal auditing, corporate governance, and impacts of global crisis and achieving the corporate strategy through internal auditing, managing stress and current national economic growth.
