Kainantu Primary School is one of the largest schools in the province (EHP) with a total student enrolment of 1500 and 47 staff. The issue the branch identified is with their water needs. They have 4x tuffa tanks that would not cater for their ablution blocks and drinking purposes. Students would get sent home early everyday during dry season. Also existing pressure pipes into the ablution block was too narrow to pressurize the water flow thus resulting in blocked toilets.
Kainantu branch staff with the assistance of a contractor has at least rectified the problem to some extent. They supplied 2x additional tuffa tanks (5000 liters) and upgraded pressure pipes that enables adequate water supply to the toilets. Now 3x tuffa tanks should supply water to the toilets and 3x tanks to cater for drinking water only. The head teacher expressed great relief with the assistance from the bank and mentioned it was the first of its kind from any organization since the existence of the school.
