BSP Kimbe staff worked together with the Darava Community in Talasea
District to install 2 new 9000L water tanks at the local Elementary
School. Darava Elementary school is about 45 minutes' drive west of
Kimbe Town, and is home to the hot springs in West New Britain.
Students and villagers walk a kilometre down to the springs to collect drinking water, which they leave to cool before consuming. With the new tanks installed, Students and staff can now conveniently access clean water to drink, and spend more time in school.
The project took two weeks to complete through team effort. BSP Kimbe staff gave up their weekends to assist with the delivery of the project and also made a play area for the children.
When handing over completed project, Kimbe Branch Manager, Ruby Patu said, the team was pleased that they could contribute to helping a community and will continue to look at ways to improve everyday lives through worthy projects like this. She also thanked community leaders for their support and allowing BSP to deliver a project and be a part of the Community.
